Top sites in Nierstein
Each unmistakable in its own way

The Roter Hang in Nierstein is among the most famous vineyard areas worldwide. The red sandstone (Rotliegend) shapes not only the landscape but also the character of the wines: mineral, elegant, and full of depth. Each single vineyard has its own personality and yields distinctive Rieslings.

Hipping
Early warming throughout the day

The Hipping site benefits from the early morning sun and the heat-retaining red soils. Combined with its proximity to the Rhine and shelter from westerly winds, a unique mesoclimate emerges. Rieslings from Hipping are particularly juicy, fruit-driven, and lively.

Pettenthal
A unique steep slope on the Roter Hang

Pettenthal has been one of the standout sites of the Roter Hang for centuries. Our vineyards lie in a south-facing side valley with gradients of up to 50%. The special microclimate creates ideal conditions for great Rieslings: elegant, powerful, mineral, with finely defined fruit.

Pettenthal Rehbacher Steig Sommerseite
A unique parcel

The Rehbacher Steig “Sommerseite” is a prime piece within the Pettenthal. In this small, steep parcel, grapes grow that we craft with particular care into one of our flagship wines. The Riesling from the Rehbacher Steig Sommerseite impresses with richness, substance, and tremendous ageing potential.

Schloss Schwabsburg
Named after a Staufer-era castle keep

The Schloss Schwabsburg vineyard surrounds a castle keep dating back to the 12th century. Natural erosion has formed a stony, shallow soil here. On this meagre site, small-berried, aromatic grapes ripen, producing especially concentrated wines with intense aromatic notes. Rieslings from Schloss Schwabsburg show power, depth, and a fruit-driven profile.
